Kayak Surfing
We are a well established canoe club which has been in existence since 1978. We have an expanding and modern fleet of canoes, kayaks and associated equipment for use by our members.
Our weekly sessions at Dorcan swimming pool offer a chance to learn the basic skills all year round in comfort, with all the equipment provided. We teach canoe safety as well as basic paddling techniques. The instruction also covers advanced techniques useful in white water canoeing such as the Eskimo roll. Our instruction will enable you to pass the various canoeing proficiency standards and tests set by the British Canoe Union of which we are an affiliated Club. Once you have gained the basic skills you can use and improve them on some of the many trips the club organises.
Our canoeing activities cover most forms of canoeing and many trips are organized by the club throughout the year. Some of these are rivers within the local area such as the Thames, Avon and Frome. These rivers have various weirs, small rapids and miles of pleasant scenery. We also travel further a field to rivers like the Wye, Usk, Exe, Dart, Lyn and Treweryn where gentle touring and some of Britain's most exciting white water canoeing can be found.
